Gwen Evans graduated at Manchester School Of Art (Manchester Metropolitan University).

Gwen's practice is currently concerned with the relationship between pattern, figure and object. Her paintings centre on a sense of obscurity surrounding the narrative of the characters portrayed, and symbolic worth of the objects within. In addition to the ambiguous, an underlying concept that runs throughout her work is the depiction of the figure itself as an object. The artist endeavours to create a conversation within the painting between the finely painted and the roughly delineated, contrasting harmonious elements with awkward components to create a balance of aesthetics, mirroring the objects precarious placement within the painting.
