Roos on the Green
I love observing and painting wildlife. I use watercolour as it is a great medium to quickly capture the essence of the animal. At times in the bush heat I have the challenge of the paint drying too quickly and running out of water to paint. In Australia droughts have been getting longer and more frequent. Kangaroos have an amazing resilience and can hold a foetus suspended until the next rain arrives but they have discovered that moving closer to humans provides a more consistent supply of water and green grass. Almost every town in Australia has a golf course so you will see Roos lounging around in the shade beside the greens or grazing on the fairways. Roos have become very relaxed around golfers, so it is a great place to sit, sketch and paint, provided you watch out for the odd golf ball!
