Vsevolod Saplin
“Incognito ergo sum? As the substance emotionally noted addressing to the form…”
(Joseph Brodsky)
Vsevolod Saplin was born in Moscow in 1987. In 2010 he graduated from Moscow State Academic Art College named after 1905. From that moment on he has been working with oil painting and he creates incredibly pastose, expressive and emotional canvases. Vsevolod mainly works in solitude choosing for his work Godforsaken rural corners and he seldom has any contacts with art publicity.
At the end of 2018 Vsevolod showed his paintings at the exhibition called “In the square” where he talked about his conception – Abstract Pleinairism.
Abstract Pleinairism is an inspired nature interpretation used in expressive painting on the edge of abstraction, but the form, the rhythm and the vital power of nature still keep their wildness and accuracy. The painter is trying to convey the beauty which he can see and feel.
The main target for the artist is finding the Divine through beauty. Oil mixed with linseed oil paste is put on the canvas surface and create an embossed and half-sculptural painting. With the help of this technique, the artist depicts different shapes using random effects. Vsevolod produces rich pictorial texture.
The artist’s paintings are exhibited in some private collections in Russia and Europe.
